Downpatrick Food Bank

Starting from Tuesday 14th April, there will be a van parked in front of the Guild Hall from 7pm – 8pm to collect donations for the Rev Owen Patterson’s food bank in Downpatrick which also covers the Saintfield Area.

The need is great for non-perishable and also long life foods, toiletries and baby food and toiletries.

Donations are to be placed directly into the van, one person at a time.

They are unable to take donations of money.

Please spread the word. Thank You.

As you may well have heard through the media in recent weeks, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland have decided to cancel all Church activities until further notice.

As a consequence of this, and to keep our congregation focussed on the Lord, we plan to use the Church Website and Facebook Page to upload morning and evening service videos.  The services will be available on the website from 11am and 6:30pm and can also be viewed on the First Saintfield Presbyterian church Facebook page.

We are facing unprecedented days and therefore we are encouraging every believer in our church fellowship to set aside 30 minutes on a Wednesday night from 8-8.30pm to pray at home, as well as continuing to pray in your own daily quiet time. For weekly prayer points, click here.

You might also find it helpful to use the Let’s Pray guide published by PCI.

We all need to look out for the elderly and vulnerable at this time. With that in mind if you or anyone else need practical or pastoral help, please ring;

Rev Ivan Ferris

You can also contact your district elder or send an email through the ‘contact’ section of the web page.

“Find rest O my soul in God alone, my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, He is my fortress, I shall not be shaken.” (Psalm 62 v5-6).

First Saintfield is a friendly, evangelical church in the heart of Saintfield. Our Church family is made up of local people from many different walks of life and stages of faith.

Whether you are looking for a local church, or unsure about God and wanting to find out more, we would love to welcome you along to our Church any Sunday morning  at 11:00 am or evening at 6:30 pm.

If you are young – or just young at heart, we also have a number of organisations who meet each week for friendship and fellowship.  Our organisations cater for a wide range of interests, age groups and abilities and welcome new members to come along at any stage during the year.  Full details of activities and meeting times are available on this site.

Another week is over and it’s time to prepare for the next one. Anxiety creeps in and we find ourselves uneasy about what is to come as we look at the week ahead of us.

Friend, while we don’t know what is...

Presbyterian Church Ireland

To accompany the many things that congregations are doing in the current cessation of all regular gatherings of church members, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland has launched an initiative called These three remain

While so many things have changed in recent days, we want to remind ourselves of what remains core to our expression of life in God. And so we gladly recall the words of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthian Christians in I Corinthians 13:13, ‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love’.

The aim of the initiative is to draw congregations together in God to express his life and witness in this moment. A range of devotions, prayer points, blogs and stories are provided to encourage and equip churches and their members in these days.

Content can be found by clicking here and initially includes:

  • TIDES daily devotional
  • Let’s Pray weekly prayer points
  • In this moment a weekly prayer in direct response to some aspect of current events
  • TTR Blog reflecting on aspects of congregational life and worship in these days
  • TTR Podcast (coming soon) a weekly conversation on what is happening around congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
  • Links to Sunday Worship listing congregations broadcasting worship in addition to the Moderator’s weekly service

Hopefully there is something here that will be of encouragement to you and that you can share with members of church fellowship as we journey together with God through this difficult season.
